Context

I personally have been frustrated in the past with trying to find out information concerning my disability. In my case, I fell off a cliff when I was 19, and broke my back. L2-3 vertebre. That was 32 years ago. For most of those 32 years, I (feeling sorry for myself) tended to dwell on my disabilities. What I couldn't do as apposed to what I CAN do. This blog will concentrate solely on what we CAN do, no matter your (so called) limitations. We've come a long way in 32 years with respect to new technologies dealing with equipment for adaptation in sports, transportation, travel, accessibility, even in peoples attitudes toward us. We live in a wonderful time. I personally want to take advantage of it.
And as I continue with this blog, and soon to be web site, me focus is going to be on those things I mentioned above. Equipment, new types of wheel chairs. Sports adaptation gear and access to venues that make use of those things. For instance, There are Disabled Skiing groups all over the place that will supply the equipment, and teach us how to use it. I don't know about you, but I really miss zooming down a hill, the cold wind in my face.
In conclusion, what I'm aiming for is nothing less then people like us being able to do things we wrote off along time ago as 'undoable'. We only have one go round on the big crazy ball. So let's have one! (a ball)
Tell next time, and more info. from yours trully, Philip

Intellegence is not a sin.

It seems like in early 21st cenrury America, that the more you speek your mind on matters that trully do (matter) unless that point of view is not the least bit controversial, you might as well be carrieing a 'Shun Me' sign. This country reminds me a lot of Germany in the 30's.
Only I have a feeling Hitler cared more about what the rest of the world thought of the Fatherland then Bush and his string pullers care about what ANYBODY thinks of his politics and conduct.
I've always had the feeling that the rest of the world has for quite awhile has been more then a little bit put off by 'us' (and I cringe having to write 'us') and our 'screw you, we'll damn well do what we please' attatude. But ever sense Bush W. and his and his criminal gang of hangers on took the reigns and started riding like bats outta hell toward oblivion, the rest of the world literally HATES us. Now, Bush's God who has one of his ears at least part of the time, has likley been wispering to him (Bush) that it really doesn't matter what the rest of the world thinks, because the most of them worship the wrong God, eat strange food, and have those damn hard to understand accents. (Its not enought that 'we' expect the rest of the planet to speak English, but do they have to have such thick accents? How rude of them. I'll end by saying that I almost think we deserve someone like Bush, the way we have been treating the planet, consuming everything that isn't nailed down, leaving the raising of our kids to a box that sucks when it comes to hugs and listening. God bless Bush's God, and the God of those forieners, and the God of people like me, who know G O D is just a word, and the more we think we need to understand that word, the worse things will continue to get.
